Scary Makeup Tricks

Makeup is the finishing touch for any scary costume. Follow some of these tips for fool-proof scary effects:

Vampire makeup

Gothic Makeup - Use white makeup over the entire face, with optional black creases from eyes to cheeks and across forehead. Use black and red eye shadow over eyelids, with red being the main color from the lid up to meet the brow. For extra affect use a dark brown shadow under the eyes to create sunken eyes or eye bags. Black eyeliner should be used, thick or thin, and line from end to corner of eye. Black mascara should be applied last, and black lipstick on lips.

Fake Blood - Be careful, because this easy recipe can stain clothes and will stain skin temporarily, but it makes a great fake blood for scary costumes!

Ingredients:

  • Clear Corn Syrup, 1 pint
  • Corn Starch
  • Red and Blue Food Color
  • Water

Directions: Remove 1/4 cup of corn syrup from bottle and set aside. Add 1/4 cup of water into the bottle, plus approximately 100 - 150 drops of red food coloring and about 10 drops of blue food coloring. The exact amount of food coloring added may vary depending on brand and preference. Mix. Add 1/4 cup of cornstarch and mix. Continue to add food coloring if needed to reach desired color and consistency, and enjoy! Keep in mind this mixture is made using sugar, so throw away whatever is not used.

Witch Makeup

Witch Makeup - Witches can be good, bad, ugly, or sexy. Depending on which witch you are, you will want to apply your makeup differently. Many scary witches like to play their part up with prosthetics and fake noses and warts, but using a green makeup with plenty of black eyeliner, fake eyebrows, a well placed couples of warts, and red lipstick should do the trick. Add creases across the face and forehead with black makeup.

A sexy witch will want to use bronzer instead of green makeup, and shimmer instead of black facial lines. Red lips should be accentuated with clear gloss, and eye shadow should be gold, shimmering brown, orange, or a mixture of all three.

Vampire Makeup - is one of the easiest makeup applications. Vampires are traditionally sexy in appearance with pale skin. Dust your face with a light or white powder, and use blood red lipstick. Black mascara and silver eye shadow works well for women, as well as blood red fingernails. For vampires, fangs make a great finishing touch.
